--Tryin' To Get To Nirvana--

Out so late, there ain't a trick or a fiend around,
I go home and I hold something precious and alive, shadows abound

In a park, on a bench by a river,
I take note from the growing grass how to silently exist, in the midst, of so much sound

And I'm just trying to get to nirvana,
I cannot articulate, how much I wanna,
Get to nirvana……and nobody's used that word, in a song since Cobain's been a goner,

Alone, late a night, breaking my back, mopping some asshole's floor,
well sometimes you gotta compromise, some of your desires, to get by and become, the devil's-dollar's whore

Coasting down the Manhattan Bridge, on my bike, over that river,
I release the handlebars and spread my arms, and for a split second I could've sworn, I was soaring

I'm just trying' to get to nirvana,
i cannot articulate how much I wanna,
Get to nirvana…..and nobody's used that word, in a song since Cobain's been a goner

Hand-rolled cigarette smoke fills the room, each precious, passing moment, wastefully burns,
cuz I got many a memory, weighing on me heavy, and the future's always a source for concern

But I ain't no master mystic, meditator, or drug-taker, but I need to experience unity now, in an ego-free state, where the boundaries between the self and others disappear, and I can start letting people close before it's too late….

I'm just trying to get to nirvana,
I cannot articulate, how much I wanna,
Get to nirvana,
I think I may have to email the Dali Lama, or some shit
